Young people ‘less happy’ than older generations
We need not be naive to the fact that there is conflict, unrest in many countries, racial divide, extreme weather and poverty. These are symptoms of a world in crisis. Stress, anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, depression, addiction, self-harm, obesity, and eating disorders all exist within our school communities. There is also intolerance, segregation, civil unrest and fragmentation.
Our schools are microcosms of the wider world. They reflect what is happening outside on a smaller scale.
It does not need to be like this.

Counsel Clouds recognises that many barriers exist for young people to reach and access mental health support and provides a solution.
Counsel Clouds enables schools to access online counselling support and mental health care. This can complement the existing in-school provision or be a standalone service.

About

Rupert and Phil noticed the need to provide better mental health care while teaching. So many students suffer in silence, not knowing how to seek support or help themselves.
Schools usually operate with only a bare covering of mental health support, which means students often lack access to the right kind and amount of support. Schools also need help sourcing multiple counsellors, psychologists, behaviour specialists, and therapists. They are expensive to employ and hard to find.
The goal was to help young people access professional support by removing some of the barriers. This initial goal was the basis for the Counsel Clouds concept.
The main benefit for schools is that they can access online support without restructuring the in-school pastoral systems. Existing pastoral teams (heads of year, heads of house, counsellors), are still necessary as the typical in-school point of contact, but Counsel Clouds offers access to additional or more specific support when needed. Schools can adjust their subscription to suit their size, budget and level of need.
